Physical Sciences Division

Griffin is working towards his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at the University of Washington under the supervision of Dr. Charles T. Campbell. He joined Pacific Northwest National Laboratory's Catalysis Science in 2017 under the mentorship of Dr. Oliver Gutiérrez. Griffin's research focuses on the thermal and electrocatalytic hydrogenation of representative organic molecules of bio-oils. He is also working as a University of Washington Clean Energy Institute Graduate Fellow to study surface catalysis of these molecules to develop relationships between molecular design, kinetics, reaction environment, and catalytic activity. His eventual research aim is to utilize solar energy to produce biomass-derived hydrocarbons for fuels and value-added chemicals.
