Chicken Fat for Catalysis.

IIC's Joe Laureanti and Wendy Shaw co-authored a featured cover article review in the journal Sustainable Energy & Fuels in December 2019 with former PCSD scientist Molly O'Hagan. The article describes the importance of scaffolds in molecular complexes for catalytic energy transformations. The research team reviewed recent approaches in metalloenzyme design showing that the protein scaffold around the enzyme active site has a significant effect on enzymatic catalysis. They discuss the effect of scaffolds, along with medium as an extension of the scaffold, and their varying impacts on catalytic reactivity of energy relevant transformations.
